Just recently hearing about one of my favorite fighters of all time, the original winner of The Ultimate Fighter, Forrest Griffin retiring had me wanting to write an article on some of the veteran hall of famers of the UFC. Forest Griffin stands at an imposing 6'3 and weighs a cut 204 pounds. The Georgia Native trains out of Las Vegas, Nevada at Throwdown Training Center and Extreme Couture. Griffin has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has truly shown his heart in the MMA world as we have watched him get whaled with punches and act like nothing happened.

One of the foundations of our sport has retired. A man who propelled modern day MMA into the mainstream has hung up the gloves for the last time. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin announced his retirement at the UFC 160 post-conference on May 26th 2012. Griffins announcement stole the spotlight at the press conference from men such as UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and heavyweight title challenger Junior dos Santos.
UFC new comer Pat Healy made a major statement in his Octagon debut as he dismantled Jim Miller at UFC 159. Healy also took home two "Fight of the Night" awards winning the "Submission of the Night" and "Fight of the Night". The victory, along with both awards, swelled Healy's bank account by a cool $130,000. Now because of a failed post-fight drug test Healy now will have to pay back the entire amount he was paid as well as having the victory overturned to a no-contest.
